Kentucky Splash Park

This month we found the perfect day trip to be the states largest family entertainment center. Located in Williamsburg, Kentucky Splash Park opened for the season on Memorial Day Weekend and is still in full swing. The park is located within the Hal Rogers Family Entertainment Center, which provides activities for all ages and weather conditions.

The Splash Park offers a clean and safe place for all the water loving, young at heart visitors. For the adventurous, there is an 18,000 square foot “Wipe-Out” wave pool. Or maybe the thrill some are looking for comes from one of the many slides, standing 40 ft. tall and dropping to the pool below in only 10 seconds. However, if you are looking to just get a way and relax, maybe the “Castaway River” is the place for you. Here you can lie back in the sun and drift for 900 feet down a river of relaxation. Children of all sizes and abilities also have a place here. Most of the younger children find the “Tad Pole Island” to be the best spot to enjoy the day. It features slides, tunnels, a playhouse and more. The water is only 12 inches deep and children 54 inches or smaller are encouraged to enjoy the area.

For those who seek a break from the water during the day, there are numerous activities to keep entertained. The Family Entertainment Center (F.E.C.) activities range from miniature golf, go-karts, and batting cages, to an arcade, café and gift shop. These activities are well lit and stay open longer than the water attractions on most days.

Showers, lockers, changing rooms, lifeguards, first aid staff, and life jackets are all provided. The Splash Park closes for lightning or bad weather and precautions are taken to ensure safety. Their hours vary for holidays but on Sunday the Splash Park and F.E.C. opens at 12:30 and closes and 6:30. On weekdays, Monday through Thursday, the Splash Park and F.E.C. open at 11 and the pools close at 7 while the F.E.C. doesn’t close until 9. On Friday and Saturday they open at 11 the pool closes at 7, but the F.E.C. stays available until 10. These hours are subject to change and current information can be found by calling (606)-549-6065.

Parties and group rates are available; as well as season passes. For more information about the park you can visit their site at www.kentuckysplash.com/main.htm or call them toll free at 866-812-1860.
