Ever since, Microsoft could not maintain a truly stable Windows 9x operating environment while pushing compatibility with the changing hardware industry. This problem was evident throughout the many versions of Windows 95 and became most visible in the release of Windows 98 Second Edition when Microsoft could not even release a patch to fix all the known problems in Windows 98. All the while the majority of us combated problems with the Windows 95, 98, 98se and ME (Millennium Edition) line of operating systems many users caught on to another Microsoft product known as Windows NT. Windows NT was highly stable very efficient and completely networkable however, there was one significant downfall to the NT Operating System. Windows NT was only compatible with a narrow line of hardware products and would not run the majority of software applications such as games.
Windows XP is the successor to Windows 2000 and is in my opinion the best operating system I have ever used. Windows XP is 10 times more stable than Windows 98 and has been compatible with all of my games. The only applications I had to replace were my utilities such as my Anti-Virus and CD-RW programs. Windows XP comes with a multitude of built in programs including: games, an Internet firewall, networking utilities, deluxe security features, multiple user support interface, email, chat and web surfing tools. Windows XP is offer in two flavors geared for Home and Business users and starts at around $99.00 for the basic upgrade.
